About Michell Computing

Michell Computing operates as a consultancy whose primary service is the development of bespoke computer software. In addition to this core activity, we also provide advisory, training and technical support services.

Set up in 1990 by Paul F. Michell, an experienced software engineer, Michell Computing has honed its expertise in the design and implementation of computer systems for a variety of clients in both the public and private sectors. Over the years, Michell Computing clients have included the following well known organisations:

Initially Michell Computing focused on the development of corporate management information systems using Microsoft Access and SQL Server. This has subsequently extended into Geographic Information Systems (GIS), first with ESRI and MapInfo products, but more recently with the benefit of several world class Open Source projects and our own digital mapping software.

Paul Michell is also a professional member of the British Computer Society (BCS) and has academic interests in synthetic image generation and parallel processing. During his MSc from Liverpool Hope University, he gaining a distinction for his thesis in Landscape Visualisation. He has also had two articles published in 'C Magazine' and is a contributor to the Lazarus project, a powerful development environment for the FreePascal language.
